Who is Helen Roe?
Welcome. I’m Helen, and everything I offer through Pure Yoga – Ayurveda is rooted in a lifelong passion for helping people feel good, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
My journey began in a very different setting. Starting at 13, I built a career in hairdressing that took me from local salons in Newark-on-Trent to the deck of cruise ships in the Caribbean. Eventually, I became a teacher, an assessor, and a salon owner in this field. To this day, I still spend a few days a week behind the chair. Whether I am working with hair or holistic health, my goal remains the same, helping people feel good about themselves, both externally and internally.
With a love for sport, nutrition, and holistic wellbeing, my approach is practical, personalised, and rooted in real life.
Outside of my work, I have a real love for movement and being outdoors. You’ll often find me on the golf course, out on my road or gravel bike, swimming in the open water, paddle boarding on a lake, or simply walking and enjoying fresh air in the hills, by the sea and in the forests/woods surrounded by nature. I also enjoy incorporating Reformer Pilates and gym-based strength training into my routine, supporting strength, stability, and overall resilience. I’ve always enjoyed taking part in a wide range of sports, and that variety has given me a real appreciation for how different bodies move, adapt, and thrive in different ways. This allows me to work with athletes as I understand many different disciplines.
BEYOND THE MAT
My own Yoga practice is something I live both on and off the mat. It’s not just about the physical postures. It’s about how I move through life day to day. Yoga offers a much deeper framework, often described as the “eight limbs,” which include not only movement and breath, but also how we think, behave, rest, and connect with ourselves and others.
For me, this means bringing awareness into everyday moments, how I respond to stress, how I look after my energy, how I speak to myself, and how I show up for others. I can assure you though I don’t always get this right, that is why it’s called a practice. The physical practice is just one part; the real value of Yoga is how it supports a calmer mind, a steadier nervous system, and a more balanced way of living.
This is what truly sets Yoga apart from other forms of exercise. It’s not something you switch on for an hour and then leave behind. It becomes a way of being. Over time, it helps you feel more grounded, more resilient, and more in tune with what you need, both on and off the mat.
All the above aren’t just hobbies. They’re a big part of how I look after my own wellbeing. They keep me grounded, energised, and connected, and they continually remind me how important it is to move in ways that feel good and work for your body. That love of movement carries into everything I offer, helping you find ways to feel strong, capable, and balanced in your own everyday life.
This is about more than just Yoga or Wellness. It’s about you feeling stronger, calmer, and more like yourself.
